From Airport to Carnegie Mellon
- Leave the airport and bear left onto the Parkway toward Pittsburgh (route 60 to route 279). Stay on the Parkway until AFTER you pass through the Fort Pitt Tunnel. You are nearing the tunnel and city when you pass the Greentree Exit and go down a long grade. As you approach the tunnel, stay in either of the two left-hand lanes of the Parkway.
- As you leave the tunnel, take a second to admire our city’s front door! Continue across the Fort Pitt Bridge, and take the SHARP RIGHT exit ramp at the end of the bridge onto I-376 eastbound (to Monroeville). This exit ramp is reachable from both lanes coming out of the tunnel.
- Stay in the right lane on I-376 and take the Oakland Exit (#2A), which merges into Forbes Avenue (one way).
- Continue on Forbes Avenue through the Oakland business district past the University of Pittsburgh’s Cathedral of Learning tower (on the left), which is located just past Bigelow Boulevard. The next intersection after Bigelow is Bellefield Avenue, at which point Forbes becomes a two-way street.
- Continue in either of the two right-hand lanes of Forbes Avenue past Bellefield Avenue and the Carnegie Museum (on the right), and continue through the traffic light at Craig Street (if you are in the right-hand lane at this intersection, you will likely have to merge left very quickly to avoid an upcoming row of parked cars). Continue across the bridge.
- If you have a visitor’s pass for the Robotics Institute, the entrance is on the right immediately after the bridge. Follow the drive back and to the left, and look for the Robotics Visitor spaces on the left (against Smith Hall). Newell-Simon Hall is opposite these spaces.
- If you wish to park in the campus parking garage, continue after the bridge and go through the next two traffic lights (the first is for a parking lot exit on the left shortly after the bridge, the second is at Morewood Avenue). Continue past Morewood and turn right into the driveway entrance to the campus parking garage.
- The campus parking garage uses a pay-as-you-go system (space permitting). If you have a visitor’s pass, check in at the parking office just inside the entrance to the garage before entering with your car.
The ICLL is located on the first floor of Newell-Simon Hall.
- Enter Newell-Simon Hall through the main doors. You will enter on the 3rd floor.
- Follow the overhead sign to the elevators. The elevators will be to the right, just before the staircase and cafe.
- Take the elevator down to the 1st floor and exit to the right.
- Follow the hallway into the receptionist’s area. The ICLL is 1502 NSH, straight ahead.
